Industry Expertise

Project management consulting, technology and staffing for capital-intensive, project-driven organizations.

Where project delivery breaks down, whatever the industry

Whether the project is a pipeline, a production line, an ERP rollout, a core system migration or a hospital expansion, the same handful of problems turn up.

  • Nobody has a reliable picture of what their people are already committed to, so the next project gets approved on the assumption that capacity will appear.
  • Cost sits in one system and schedule in another, so the portfolio view is rebuilt by hand every month and arrives too late to act on.
  • Capital is over-requested at budget time and under-tracked in execution, and the gap only shows up when it is too late to redeploy.
  • Every site, division and partner reports differently, so no two projects can be compared.
  • Governance is either heavy enough to slow delivery down or light enough that nobody can say who approved what.

What changes by sector is the context around those problems. The vocabulary, and whether you are taken seriously in the first meeting. The regulatory load, and what has to be evidenced rather than asserted. Which roles are hard to hire, and how fast demand for them moves. A consultant who has not worked in your sector will reach the right answer eventually, after a month spent learning your business instead of improving it.

We have worked in these sectors long enough to skip that month.

Common questions

Oil and gas, manufacturing, power and utilities, engineering and construction, financial services, and healthcare and pharmaceuticals. The common thread is organizations that run significant work as projects rather than as routine operations, and that are judged on delivering it to cost and schedule. Most are in Houston and the surrounding region, with national reach on remote roles.

The underlying disciplines do not. Cost control, scheduling, governance and portfolio management work the same way everywhere. What differs is the context they operate in: the vocabulary a team uses, the regulatory evidence required, the cycle the workforce moves with, and which roles are hard to fill. A consultant without sector experience reaches the right answer more slowly, because the first weeks go on learning the business rather than improving it.

Yes. The listed sectors are where the deepest experience sits, not the limit of it. The disciplines transfer, and every engagement starts with an assessment of how the organization actually runs, which is where sector-specific context gets built.

The three are related problems: a delivery capability needs a system behind it, and a system needs people who can run it. Splitting them across three vendors means three discovery processes and nobody accountable for whether the pieces fit together. That is the reason clients use EPMA across more than one service line. Each line also stands alone, so there is no requirement to take all three.
